It was truly energizing to be back in person after four years, with a rich menu of virtual offerings for those who were unable to join us in person. The 2023 Unity Summit hosted over 1200 philanthrofolk in Los Angeles, CA and more than 300 virtually. Through the blend of your voices, movement leaders' wisdom, audacious vulnerability and a commitment to action, we shared examples of and opportunities for transformation. Across various session types and formats, we explored shifts in internal organizational practice that considered organizational climate and culture as well as how to realize intersectional racial equity within philanthropic organizations; and external practice that examined use of capital, ways of engaging with accountability to community, and methods for leveraging collective power. And we engaged deeply with local movements and communities through two community learning exchanges, a plenary session on Los Angeles movement history, performances by local artists, and a market of products created by local vendors and artisans.
